The Final Countdown to Cupcake Camp Begins….See you all tomorrow!

I hope that each of you can feel our excitement for tomorrow’s Cupcake Camp SGV! This journey started last August when our Soroptimist Club went to Cupcake Camp Orange County. We had so much fun and thought…”we can do this”! A two-fold goal: to have a super fun event in the community and to raise a large amount of money for some very deserving organizations. Where most may think this is really about the cupcakes it is truly about the people we will be helping. These people include single moms struggling to raise their family, teenageers without a home trying to find their way in this world, abused women and children taking a stand to leave an abusive situation and victims of sexual abuse/rape. And to help them it is simply a small contribution of $10.

You may think $10 isn’t much….but times that by 1000 tickets and we have the potential of raising $10,000 for these organizations. $10,000 can buy food, clothing, books, rape kits, bus passes, and provide shelter for struggling people in our local community. And you can help! Take five minutes today and email all of your friends about Cupcake Camp SGV. Tell them to come tomorrow from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM and to also share the information with their friends. Go to Cupcake Camp SGV on facebook and share the link with your facebook friends. And for your friends who can’t go, offer to go for them. You can purchase their ticket, pick out their 6 cupcakes and deliver them to them.

Before we get into the craziness of tomorrow, I want to take this last opportunity to thank everyone who has made planning Cupcake Camp an amazing opportunity. For the bakers, to the judges, to those who have just been frequent supporters of our facebook page…THANK YOU!! I hope to see you tomorrow. And when you see someone picking out their cupcakes tomorrow think…their generosity is $10 that will be going to support a victim of violence!

Wowee for Kowee’s Kakes!

When Nicole from Kowee’s Kakes signed up for Cupcake Camp SGV, I just LOVED LOVED LOVED her logo!! I have to admit I loved that slightly guilty look of licking the batter from the mixer. Not that I’ve ever done that before…ok, yes I’ve done it and will continue to do it! However, this is about Kowee’s Kakes…not my guilt!

We are so thankful that Nicole and Kowee’s Kakes have decided to generously join us as a professional baker at Cupcake Camp SGV. Nicole also donated her services and cupcakes to Cupcake Camp Inland Empire last year! Nicole is a graduate of culinary school and is working on making a name for herself in the baking arena! In addition to cakes, she does cookies, cupcakes, and many other baked goodies! She also mentioned enjoying to work with alcohol flavored cakes. We can’t wait to see what Kowee’s Kakes will whip up for us at Cupcake Camp SGV!!

What do Baked Classics new Popped Crisps and cupcakes have in common? Well…it would be that they both can come with vanilla frosting! Baked Classics now have three flavors including Mesquite BBQ, Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper…and the soon to be favorite of Cupcake Camp SGV…VANILLA FROSTING! These treats are so healthy that Classic Foods advertises them as “savory snacks without an ounce of guilt”.

Now, what do Baked Classic Popped Crisps and Cupcake Camp SGV have in common? Well…Classic Foods is donating 125 bags of of their crisps to our event. 50 bags are being donated for the volunteer lunch BUT 75 1 oz. bags of the Vanilla Frosting Popped Crisps will be given out to our first 75 ticket buying guests at Cupcake Camp SGV. So we’ve literally sweetened the deal…for $10 you get a bag of Baked Classic Popped Crisps Vanilla Frosting Flavored, 6 amazing cupcakes, and an afternoon of fun. And we promise that Cupcake Camp SGV will be “loads of fun without an ounce of guilt” because your money is going to support helping victims of violence. See you there!

If you’re traveling on Citrus Ave. in Covina, make sure to stop into Sandwich City. It’s a quaint restaurant that will definitely meet your lunch or dinner needs!! They also do catering for you party needs. You have to love the quote on their website, “If our food doesn’t hit the spot, there could be something seriously wrong with your spot.” You can find out more information about their shop at www.sandwichcity.net. Although they’re a sandwich shop, Alan and his team, are bringing 300 cupcakes to Cupcake Camp SGV as a professional baker. In addition Alan has generously offered to donate some of his delicious sandwiches as a lunch snack for our Cupcake Camp SGV volunteers. We are so appreciative of his generosity!! If you’re anywhere near San Dimas, stop into The Dessert Shoppe and check out their lunch menu! The restaurant is nice, cool, and has a variety of things to eat that will meet everyone’s needs. And did I mention…they have cupcakes! Yesterday, while dropping off a Cupcake Camp SGV poster I took a quick glance in their display class and there were some tasty looking options for a quick afternoon treat! They also had a big board with all sorts of specials…and who doesn’t love a good deal. The Dessert Shoppe will be joining us at Cupcake Camp SGV and bringing some of their delicious cupcakes for our guests to try. Thank you so much The Dessert Shoppe…we appreciate your generosity!!
